SPRIND has a clear mission: to strengthen Germany’s position as a hub for groundbreaking innovations and to help radically new ideas achieve a breakthrough.

SPRIND plays a central role in the Made in Germany Awards. Together with the Federal Ministry of Research, Technology, and Space, it forms the expert jury and selects the top three entries in each category. In addition, SPRIND can offer funding opportunities to projects that meet its eligibility criteria following a thorough review. The amount and form of funding are determined by SPRIND through its own process.

What are the Made in Germany Awards?

The Made in Germany Awards are a German innovation prize that recognizes outstanding projects and inventions that improve our future intelligently and sustainably. They are looking for pioneering innovations in the fields of artificial intelligence, medicine, energy, mobility and society that have already proven themselves beyond the concept phase. The crowning glory is a festive awards ceremony in Berlin, which is streamed live on the science YouTube channel Breaking Lab and reaches an audience of millions.

Who is behind the Made in Germany Awards?

The Made in Germany Awards stand out from other innovation awards thanks to their unique combination of reach and prestige. Through Breaking Lab and other content creators, participants reach an audience of millions and are evaluated by a renowned jury of experts. Regardless of their chances of winning, participants have the unique opportunity to bring themselves to the attention of the Federal Agency for Breakthrough Innovations (SPRIND) and thus secure the chance for subsequent funding from SPRIND. Any funding that may result from participation and its amount are subject to a separate SPRIND procedure. In addition, there is the awards ceremony in Berlin, offering direct access to a high-caliber network of professionals from business, science, and politics.

The aim of the Made in Germany Awards is to make Germany''s most innovative minds and ideas visible and to promote them in a targeted manner. We want to offer innovators a platform where they can present their work to a broad audience and leading representatives from business, science and politics. Together, we want to show how German innovations are setting standards worldwide.

The trophy

The cube on this website has a special meaning, because it is also the shape of our prize. The base of the trophy is made of CO₂-neutral cement from Oliment - a Leipzig-based company funded by the Federal Agency for Breakthrough Innovation SPRIND. The innovative olivine-based binder does not require fossil fuels and even binds CO₂.
